Freeze Protection:
Your system comes with "Passive" freeze protection.
Passive Freeze Valve freeze protection is accomplished by a valve, usually called a "Dole Valve" which starts to open at 40°F to cause a small flow through the collector from the lower portion of the warmer storage tank to be released on the roof. Moving water is less likely to freeze than still water plus the moving water is warmed by the water in the tank it is also going through.
Optional "Active" Recirculation Freeze Protection is recommended for light freeze areas Orlando & north:
Recirculation Freeze Protection Kit: Adds an extra level of Freeze Protection by circulating water during freeze conditions.
Recirculation freeze protection causes a flow of water to be pumped through the solar loop from the bottom of the tank and back to the bottom or lower portion of the tank. Moving water is less likely to freeze than still water plus the moving water is warmed by the water in the tank it is also going through. It is activated by a sensor or snap switch mounted on the outlet of the collector. It provides light freeze protection down to 20°F for up to 6 hours.

If a bad freeze is forcast there is a Solar Loop quick shut off ball valve and drain valve set that is a standard part of the Quick Connect.

Tilt Kits (option)
1 1⁄2” Aluminum Ell legs with 1 1⁄2” aluminum Ell feet and hardware. Kit tilts panels approximately 18 degrees, or as specified (modified tilt angles are available), from existing roof angle.
Tilt kits are used when a better winter angle is desired on a low pitch roof or to “reorient” panels to face south by running the panels up and down an East or West facing roof.
